NYU Langone Medical Center rolled out their business intelligence application as a cross-functional platform to support reporting and analytics throughout the hospital to support executive decision making. They started with a focus on financial analysis, procurement & spend, project analytics, and some customer reporting. The "Dean’s Dashboard" (Hospital CEO) was a key area of focus which entailed the integration of data from Moody's (finanical benchmarks), PeopleSoft ERP, and external sources.
The project was sponsored by the Director of Financial Reporting who helped facilitate the cross-functional team. KPI Partners was leveraged for its business intelligence applications methodology, which expedited the timeline, along with joint project management. Leveraging the KPI Partners methodology was a key factor to the overall success of the project.
NYU’s goal was to implement a business intelligence solution, specific to PeopleSoft, to achieve the following:
Oracle Business Intelligence and Informatica technology were selected as the enterprise platform for business intelligence. KPI Partners deployed and extended the out-of-the-box Oracle BI Application with customizations to the data warehouse, metadata, and presentation layer components. Multiple star schemas utilized Informatica mappings for the extraction, transformation, and loading of application data.
A “very successful” project went live after sixteen weeks from initiation. The project created such excitement and end user adoption that KPI & NYU had to manage a flood of user requests for application access sooner than anticipated. Over 150 reports were included in the initial launch.
The Oracle BI Applications have become an integral part of the daily business process at NYU Medical Center.
